a computer network is established when least two computers are connected to share their resources by the means of a wire, wireless, infrared, bluetooth, usb etc.A computer network doesn't mean it has to have a internet connection. The computer network is often classified into LAN and WAN.LAN refers to local area connection in which computers from a single location are connected through a hub.Lan is often characterized by connection that are with in the area of 10 kms.WAN how ever is called Wide Area Network,it can be a group of LAN connected together and have a wide geographical distance between them, even between countries(like in international banking). There are also other kind of networks but they are often under the classification of LAN and WAN for eg: WLAN(wireless LAN) is a type of LAN connection that is established through wireless technology.
