it seems to me that you have a more serious problem other than just being able to retrieve your IP configuration list from command prompt.

what it is, is that you ipconfig command cannot find the appropriate .exe file within ur system32 folder.

what to do:

firstly, direct command prompt to your system32 folder, by typing in "c:\windows\system32\ipconfig.exe" which should then display the information appropriately.

if this doesnt work, you will need to go through my computer > C:\ > Windows > System32 > and then look for the ipconfig.exe file. if its not thier, thier is a problem.

you would have to replace it, or simply get a third party program which you could find by searching for "ip configuration utility file" the third party tool will be able to do the exact same as the windows one that is lost.

i found a program that works the same called ipconfig manager 1 at trusty download.com which can be found here: http://www.download.com/IPConfig-Manager/3000-2381_4-10658058.html?tag=lst-1

All internet connections have a gateway address, whether you do not have a router in place someplace alongside the way there is going to be a modem or some thing that the relationship is passing via. in case you pass to your start up menu, then decide on 'Run...', and then open 'cmd' (while you're working an older version of abode windows you could ought to enter 'command'). whilst the 'black' window pops up enter 'ipconfig' and then press enter. this provides you with each and all of the information on your connection.
