Question:
How do I get wireless internet for my PC?
?

I own a PC that did not come with built in wireless capabilities. I believe I need a linksys wireless adapter (since i have a linksys wireless G). I'm very close to the router, so I don't think I need a long range or speed booster adapter.

Would this be what I need? What would you recommend? Thanks.

When saying PC I am assuming that you are not referring to a laptop. If you have a laptop then I highly recommend having an internal wireless adapter installed.

In regards to a desktop computer:

The link you sent would work but I would recommend another model.

The following is better because it will allow you to position the USB antenna in a place that gets better reception (it comes with a USB cable). The metal of the computer works like a shield and if your close enough for it to work now the other will be fine but if you ever move your computer you may regret having the wireless antenna so close to a big metal shield!

Wireless G is a standard so you don't have to buy a Linksys in order to talk to a Linksys. You can buy any brand you want as long as it uses a standard supported by your Linksys. That being said, the one you provided a link for should work for you.

The one should work. It doesn't really matter if your wireless card and wireless router is not the same brand, they still work to each other.

Extra infos (just ignore it if you don't care)

If you're using PC (a tower {not a laptop}) i recommend buying a network card something like this

IF you have experience adding/removing hardwares in your computer, I recommend buying a wireless card instead of USB wireless adapter.

Thank you for reading. Hope this one answer your question
