Firstly I want to say that im posting in this topic because it's vaguely related to networking, but I may be wrong and it could just be an operating system problem.

My girlfriend has an EeePC 1005P, and she wants to share the wireless connection to the ethernet so she can then connect the ethernet to her xbox and get on XBL.

Now i've gone through the motions of setting up internet sharing, but there's one snag i can't get around.

When i right-click on the wireless adapter, there is no sharing tab at the top.

I went into services.msc to check the Internet Connection Sharing service is running, but it wasn't. When i tried starting the service, it was stopped by the following error:

Quote:
The Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.
I've looked at various solutions on Google, but most of the solutions aren't solutions for the problem I am having.

I've also tried bridging the connection when both the wireless is connected and the ethernet, but it doesn't give me the option too.

Thanks for reading, please help anyone.

There is a good article on Microsoft about that issue http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-networking/how-to-enable-internet-connection-sharing-on/5a3e34ec-f0af-4a02-a588-e9f091711095?page=2

The only question I have is that if you are using wifi why nit just connect the cable from the Xbox to the router? You will still have port forward issues with ICS!

Be sure to also read the setup info http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/Using-ICS-Internet-Connection-Sharing
