Question:
Anyone know about connecting a Belkin DSL router for Orange Broadband?

I have had broadband from Orange (formally Wanadoo, formally Freeserve) for sometime now using an external USB modem provided by Freeserve. I recently purchased a Belkin F5D9630 modem-router Version 5 and have attempted to use this instead of the Freeserve USB router. I follow all the instructions I could find for settings in the router which included:

username
password
Encapsulation: PPOA
Multiplexing Method: VC Based
VPI: 0
VCI: 38
MTU: 1492
Primary DNS: 193.36.79.101
Secondary DNS: 193.36.79.100

Having entered these I received no change. Dial tone found but the DNS light still flicked on and off?

There were a few other settings such as authentication, Modulation and port numbers that I could not find in the router. Any ideas?

Only Orange knows exactly what settings they need. If you can't find them in the old modem, call Orange and ask them to get you set up. (It could be something as simple as that they allow only a single MAC address, and the Belkin's is going to be different than the old one.)

there is a setup assistant program on the CD which has preconfigured settings for most common providers have you tried that?

dude, i would remove your IP address' from this question straight away.

It could lie in the fact that the previous modem was USB and the new one is RJ45
