Well, they can do a lot, depending on how your system is set up.

1) They could plant a virus or keylogger, only if they have access to your computer, and it does not have a firewall and/or latest patches. If you have a good firewall on the PC, and it is up to date, it would be very hard for a wifi hacker to plant anything.

2) They can monitor all the network packets, and steal your user ids and passwords, then steal your accounts. That includes any things like Paypal or online banking (harder to do, but possible...)

3) They can gather enough information about you to steal your identity. Once they have enough information about you, they sell that info to other hackers.

4) Not just a hacker, but some perverted child porn person starts to download child porn via your wireless connection, and the cops raid your house for a "Child Porn Bust". Your stuff is seized. Eventually you get it back, but everyone will wonder about you from that point on....

The list goes on (movie downloads, spam mail sent from your email accounts - getting them closed down, and so on...)

A Hacker once on your network , can do what ever he wants depending on his level. The first defense is having a strong firewall/secured wireless and wired network. Once on the network the routers GUI can be access with simple scripts. Seeing how you are working an Unsecured Network you need to assume the client is a non tech and has done nothing to secure the network aside from the default firewall settings. I'm A CISCO ENGINEER don't let people fool you by saying they can do nothing. Say you are sharing a network folder on your network all it would take is to plant a new file with the keyloger or virus and the end user for the most part will not look at the date modified and open it like it was the file that he was using for two weeks. That is just one example of thousands of ways a hacker can attack a home or business network. Hope this helps if you need a more detailed/tech descriptions and examples reply and let me know! GOOGLE NETWORK STRIPING AND COLLISION DETECTION. Then look up an app called faceniff for android and you will be shocked at how easy it is to hack nowadays if you have a rooted android download the apk for faceniff and play with it on "YOUR OWN NETWORK"

Good luck Happy Browsing

Yes and yes. They can use your internet and browse pages with these things on, also if it's a home network and any of the computers are on they can hack the files on the computers, I know that cos I use the same method to send files to other computers in my home network without email.

They can access files marked for sharing on any pc that is connected and switched on. They could possibly plant malware in place to benefit them later, and most importantly they could use your wifi to send material to unsavoury persons around the world that would be traceable to your internet connection

No, they can only use your network to browse the Internet. Although, if more people are using your network, it tends to go slower. I reccomend putting a password.

definite, in case you're related to someones community, the admin on that community can make certain the MAC handle on the gadget. in case you do something unlawful, the logs on the router can component out your MAC handle.
