how to open ports on a belkin router?

i have cable internet and a modem. i also have 2 x box 360 and 2 computers hooked up to the Belkin wireless router. The problem is i cant join certain peoples room when i online unless i hook the Ethernet cable directly to the modem. some of my friends have told me that i need to open my ports to my router but how to i do that with out cutting it off from my x box?

You need to open ports to allow people to connect to YOUR computer, not to connect to theirs.



Regardless, go to http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/routerindex.htm pick your router, pick the game (XBox Live?) and follow all the directions.
