Hello! I'm giving this trick for Windows XP. This trick also works in Windows 7.

Windows allots 20 percent of the bandwith by default for various services like Windows update

and spyware checks. The trick is fairly simple to get hold of the unused bandwidth. Here's what

you do Go to Start -> Run and type gpedit.msc. Go to Administrative templates -> Networks ->

Qos Packet Scheduler. Click on Limit Reservable Bandwidth and check the enabled box and then

change the Bandwidth limit from 20% to 0%. This will speed up your internet connection.

One more thing!

If you're using cable broadband internet try this before anything else. It's really simple to do and it works great.

Download this simple program to edit your settings > http://www.dslreports.com/front/drtcp.html ( not more then 100kb size )

1. Set Tcp Receive Window (RWIN) to 128480

2. Set Windows Scaling, Time Stamping, Selective Acks, Path MTU Discovery, Black Hole Detection to Default.

3. Leave Max Duplicate Acks and TTL Blank [Delete anything in those fields]

4. Save to Registry. Reboot.

Best of luck increasing your net speed .

Usually upgrading your router to Wireless N/G will do that. Maximizing your ISP speed.

Getting a new computer if yours is old. Plug in into the power if a laptop for more range/performance.

Switching to cable based Internet access from DSL, or yikes, from 56k dial up. (ancient)

Google for SpeedTest and the site will test your upload/download speed.
