I have a router on the bottom floor and a computer on the second floor with a wireless adapter that gets the wireless signal, however, I have devices that should be in the same room as the computer that connect to the internet through Ethernet. How would I convert the wireless signal my computer gets with the adapter to an ethernet connection? For example, somehow bridge the wireless adapter and NIC card then just plug the device into the ethernet port on the computer, or buy some sort of device that does it?

You could get a wireless client box, like the WET54G. It gets the wireless signal, and puts it out on an ethernet port (reverse of a wireless router).

You could add a cheap switch to that, and plug in 4 or 5 devices.

purchase any wireless router, follow the instructions... you just add the wireless router to the ethernet connection change the router type to accesspoint rather than router and give the router a password. Oh and turn off DHCP. plus check the rules of access that adding this doesnt violate your agreement and get you thrown out.

If you're using a Microsoft OS on the wireless client, you may be able to solve your problem by enabling Internet Connection Sharing (ICS), which was invented at a time when multiple computers needed to share a single dial-up connection.

Here's a description for how to do it in WinXP:

Please be aware that you may have to assign static IP addresses to all computers on the private network. You may also need a cross-over cable to connect another device directly to the ethernet port of your computer.
