Is it possible to connect a Mac book pro on a wireless router with My XP desktop?

Is it possible to share resources such as hard drives. I wish to use final cut pro on a Mac Book and my hard drives on my desktop running windows XP

you can access the hard drives on your windows xp by using the go to command ie



smb://192.168.x.x



where 1922.168.x.x is the ip address of your windows xp machine and then if you have any shared folders ie if you make your hard drive partitions hidden shares.



Then you could also access them by using the drive letter and the dollar symbol ie



smb://192.168.x.x/C$



It will require your windows username and password and file and printer sharing to be enabled.



It also makes it easier if both your username and password on both machines are the same.



SMB needs to be enabled on the mac in directory access ( which is a utility in the utilitys folder )



applications --> utilitys --> directory access

It all depends on the versions of the operating systems and what file systems you are using on each machine. Most likely no. Windwos XP uses the NTFS file system (New Technology File System... kinda redundant and a moot point now that it's an 8 year-old technology) and NTFS is not recognizable by MAC. You would have to have a drive formatted as FAT32 to get it to work with the Mac.
