at college i think we have roaming profiles because i can go up to any computer in the college and log in to my desktop and get my documents, pictures, settings, favourites etc. Am I correct this is what Roaming Profiles is? Does it mean when i log on my documetns etc. are taken from the server and put onto the computer, and then when i log off everything is sent back to the server? also, to log in we have a username text box and a password text box rather than having a box to click on your name and put in your password. is this because of the roaming profiles? Thanks...

Without getting too technical, yes, that's basically how it works.

Well years ago that would have been a "dumb terminal" with a connection to a central database, these days roaming profile seems to be the new definition. Here is a short explanation;

you could desire to enhance them to XP professional. this might enable the area controller member thoughts in the "device" administration panel below "laptop call". Then, you could configure your server (the two Win 2000 Server, Win 2003 Server, homestead windows Server 2008, or a Mac or Unix device working Samba) as a internet site controller and connect them to it. this might show you how to to create roaming profiles with lively itemizing or Open itemizing extremely.
