There are a few questions I have to ask. In VMware, do you have AntiVirus turned on. Is Windows Firewall set to block ICMP requests?

Can 192.168.17.2 ping the other two computers? Are you pinging by computer name or IP address?

Usually because they have their firewalls turned on.

If you want your XP VM's to ping each other, either disable the firewall or enable ICMP requests.
