Simple networking question
I've assigned my 2 computers (on home network) each a static ip so they don't obtain ip from my router.
Do i still have to disable DHCP (automatic ip assigning) in my router's setup, or no need to do so?

if you have the IP Address reserved under your router settings then your all set to keep DHCP enabled and connect as many more computers as you want. verify model and i can tell you how to reserve the IP for those computers unless you already know how to do it.

attempt putting them in an identical workgroup. the default workgroup must be MSHOME or WORKGROUP. after this you ought to attempt to share a folder on between the desktops and attempt gaining access to it from the different computing device. If this would not paintings attempt doing it immediately making use of the "create small workplace abode workplace" wizard. that should do the trick. and make helpful the two desktops are in an identical subnet.

As long as you don't connect anther computer that uses dhcp, then no need.
