I'm completely new to setting up a VPN network for my company and would appreciate any help with it. What are some good clients to use that work with windows XP and Vista? What steps do I need to take to set this up? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Try OpenVPN: http://www.openvpn.net/

It's free, extremely reliable, can be used as either a client or a server, runs on a single UDP or TCP port and runs on any mix of just about anything Windows, Linux, Mac OS, Solaris, BSD, Pocket PCs etc.

There are some good howtos on the site that will get you started.

First you must setup an VPN server. In Windows Server 2003 you must setup routing and remote access. But you may also have an VPN server in your company router. In both Vista and XP you have VPN clients.

A free one (software VPN) is Hamachi by Logmein.

They have a free client you can connect multiple computers to and it creates a secure VPN. A more business like (and expensive) solution is buy a router which does this. I would look into Checkpoint routers.
