Hi there,
I have Windows XP SP-3 and have tried every browser I could find. Even the ones for Linux distros.
IE-8 is pretty good now.
The newest Firefox works very well and seems faster than IE. I do like it.
Google Chrome has problems with my system. It crashes a lot and I have installed and uninstalled three times. Can not recommend Chrome for that reason.
Safari is slow and I just do not like the UI for it. But have tried it twice with same results.
Maxthon and Seamonkey were pretty fast and worked OK but all-in-all; "Ho Hum". Have tried both two or three times. Either one is very servicable.
I used to really like Flock. It was very lightweight and fast until they added all the Facebook, Twitter and social sites to make it more for social networking. That seemed to slow it down so I uninstalled.
The browsers I use now are Opera, firefox and IE-8.
Opera is fast and I like the user interface. Opera also can "handle" the newer HTML code. The Opera developers keep it up to date.
Also I like and use Firefox version 3.6.10. It's fast, has tabbed browsing, private browsing and good add-ins for protecting against bad websites.
Of course I still have IE-8 (can't really get rid of it) for system updates, etc.
Really the best browser for you is the one you like the most. Browsers are pretty much the same only the UI (user interface) is slightly different. Most now have tabbed browsing, favorite tab page for finding your bookmarks easily without going down a list and private browsing. Anothe "must" for me is an easy and quick way to delete temp files (with just a keystroke or two.
Hope this helps,
Al
