Question:
Why does ping request time out on only 1 Website? My computer? Internet?

I've tried pinging about 100 websites, and only 1 website times out. Unfortunatly, its the website I teach online classes on. I had no issues with it for about 4 months, but about 3 weeks ago it turned to s*it. I have an overall bad internet connection with this website. (It's in Taiwan, I'm in USA). All my other connections are fast and smooth.
I called my internet company and they said it must be a problem with the Taiwan website.
I called the Taiwan company and they say it's a problem with my internet, nobody else is having issues except me. Could it be my internet connection? My computer? I've tried pinging with firewalls and antivirus software on and off - same results. I tried completely reinstalling my computer back to factory settings and nothing has changed. I'm running out of ideas. Is there any hope? Should I just find a new job? I'd appreciate any help you can give me!

Just becasue a computer or server is online doesn't mean you can freely Ping it when you want

The icmp requests can be denied at any time

If companies didn't block ping's they'd be subjected to possible DDOS attacks

Okay - you did tracert the site -

It's your system -

The very first hop should be from your pc

I sent a tracert to that site and had no problems

What changes have you made to your router recently?

I wouldn't say it's a bad router.

I'm just wondering if the site is down? Your internet is fine.

Try and ping from this site: http://www.his.com/cgi-bin/ping?

see if it works. we will then know whether it's you or them...

use this site for tracert: http://www.opus1.com/www/traceroute.html

I have DSL with a wireless card and my computer does this occasionally (usually when the weather is bad) Look at the lights on the side of the modem/server and if the light marked "internet" is off or blinking there's the problem. Either wait or try turning off the hub and wait one minute and turn it back on.

you dont want to do a PING.. you want to do a tracert so you see where the connection is failing.
