I have forgoten my enable password for my cisco router and I need to ''write erase'' but I can't as I forgot the enable password...how can I do it as I can only use write erase in enable mode? thanks

- connect to the console port with a terminal emulator

- power on the router

- stop the boot, pressing break key on terminal emulator, to put the router in ROMMON

- type confreg 0x2142 (to bypass config load during the boot)

- type reset

- type no after each setup question, or press Ctrl-C in order to skip the initial setup procedure.

- type enable at the Router> prompt.

- type configure memory (to load your original config)

- you can now modify anything you want , including password

- type config-register 0x2102 to set the boot option to load config from NVRAM

I don't know of any hacks other than resetting your router to factory defaults and starting again.



To reset to factory defaults you need to connect using a console cable and then use your console software like Tera Term Pro to send a break within 60 seconds of startup.
