I have just bought a samsung npe500z notebook. It's not detecting the internet connection from the LAN port to the laptop. Even after several tries and troubleshooting, it keeps saying that no hardware has been detected. I have tried connecting my friends' laptops using the very same LAN cable at the same LAN port. Please help.

you can try the followings

#1 First of all, make sure that all your NIC drivers are up to date.

Go to the network connections window and right click on the appropriate adapter and disable/enable it after plugging in the cat 5.

#2Look at network adapters in device manager>

Let’s take a look at the status of the network adapters

Device manager:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type devmgmt.msc

then respond this to me

1. Under Network adapters, please tell me all the devices listed.

2. Are there any devices under Network adapters that have a red x displayed?

3. Also, are there any devices anywhere in the Device Manager display with yellow ? or ! displayed?

4. Adapter status should be “working properly and enabled”

#2 once you done that try these simple tests.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type the following commands one at a time, followed by the Enter key:

IPCONFIG /ALL

PING For addresses,follow instructions below….

PING

PING

PING 206.190.60.37

PING www.yahoo.com

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter to copy the contents to the clipboard.

Paste the results in a message here.

- The IP Address of your computer, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above. IPV4 for Vista

- The IP address of the Default Gateway, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

- The IP address of the first (or only) address for DNS Servers, obtained from the IPCONFIG command above.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

1> See if lights are flashing when you connect a cable

2> Try different cable

3> Check the device status and Uninstall the drivers and check.

Hope this helps!!

verify this for me: search for: gadget manager (on your run command) Then, verify to work out if any products have yellow exclamation marks next to them indicating a lacking driver. if that is the case, you'll favor to locate/get carry of that driver for the Ethernet Controller. you could also attempt checking the TCP/IP homes on your community connection (proper click community area Connection > click homes > TCP/IP V4 homes) and choose both bins to get carry of immediately. See if that facilitates

may be one of your cables is a crossover cable, so first you need is to test cables.and make sure what cable standard did you use in your house and what standard did you follow for your cable

Is the network interface card (NIC) on the laptop working? They do die occasionally.
