A few days ago I was connected to my home network fine. My computer started running kind of slow so I did a deep spyware scan and reset my computer. When my computer rebooted I logged back onto the internet and started browsing Youtube then my internet connection when down and never cam back. I checked my connection in the network and sharing center and where before it said my home network and home group it now says "unidentified public network", if I click on home group settings I can make it say "unidentified home network". Either way it still won't connect to the internet. When I open the tab in the bottom right it finds my home network in the list and even lists it's name. I'm using an actiontec router by the way and I have two other laptops and a Nintendo Wii that all still connect to it. I've opened the trouble shooter on everything internet, home group and network related anything more times than I can count done several system restores even more spyware scans and opened cmd and done a ping on everything I could possibly find to ping via internet resources. Additionally if I type my IP address into my web browser I either get a "request timed out" message or a "cannot find server" message. I have also opened the properties, setting and advanced setting on almost everything I could find that would let me edit such things and even turned off all of my firewalls.

IPv4 Connectivity: No Internet Access
Ipv6 Connectivity: No Network Access
Signal Strength: Excellent

Turned driver off then back on, removed the network and manually re-added it.

WTF?! Please someone help me! I am at my witt's end and don't know what to do! If you can suggest anything... ANYTHING I haven't tried yet I would be extremely gratefull and if you manage to actually solve my problem I will forever be in your debt! If not? Well then suggest things I've already done in as much detail as you can... maybe I missed something or did something wrong. Anything you think might help!

You can try this. Go here on the control panel.

Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections

open the properties of your network connection(the one with the issue)

Double click the IPV4 tcp setting

click use the following IP address

IP: 192.168.0.50

subnet: 255.255.255.0

Default: 192.168.0.1

DNS #1:208.67.222.222

DNS #2:208.67.220.220

If that doesn't work then try

IP: 10.0.0.50

subnet: 255.255.255.0

Default: 10.0.0.1

I'm guessing at what your gateway is if you want to see go to your command prompt and type in ipconfig... well maybe if you're not connected to the router you probably can't see it either.... XD Good luck those are the two most common gateways!

Did you try connecting to your computer's local IP-address, or the router's IP-address? If you can manage to connect to the router via a browser, it should give you more insight into what is troubling your router/connection. To find the router's IP-address, google your router's make and model plus "IP address" and you should find it.

Have you tried resetting your router to factory settings? Most routers have a tiny button on the back or front panel that you should reach with a thin pen or similarly shaped device. Hold the button down for 10 seconds and try reconnecting. If this works, be aware that resetting it to factory settings will leave the network open (i.e. not password protected), so you should log into the router via a browser and set a password immediately. You may have to re-enter some basic information on your router interface page, as well as reopen any port ranges that you have opened previously(If any).

You could also give the service provider a call and have them help you out. ISP phone service tends to be expensive unless your subscription covers it, though, so use it as a last resort :P

Good luck with figuring out the issue! I think we can all relate to a router acting up.

Sorry, but you have tried most thing I would have... Try finding your router's IP address and typing that into a browser... If you get your router's configuration page fine, then I have no idea what's going on... If you don't it's definitely a problem with the computer not getting through to the router... I would also try connecting to a different WiFi network somewhere else...

Good luck...

Oh.. I guess you bumped off the cardboard. Return in there and be certain the web card is established or for those who just have a wireless card you put in the part or a ethernet plug...Ensure it is in place. That is typically the quandary. As a way to make it say "unidentified" also be certain and assess you have got the proper drivers!!
