Question:
In the Army - Need help with Network in Iraq - Router issue I think?

Hello from lovely Iraq!
Alright, this is the setup:

25 users
DirectWay DW6000 2-way internet sattelite
D-Link DI-808HV Router
2 Local purchase Switches

The problem seems to be the router. The internet will work fine for a while (a couple of hours) and then the internet will cut out (I still show that I am connected to the router). If I reset the router, the internet comes back up. If I unplug the router and plug directly into the modem with my PC, I can still connect to the internet. So that is what leads me to believe it is the router. Just curious if anyone has any ideas. I already updated to the latest firmware. Thanks in advance for any help.

In my opinion, its the router. D-link makes now very bad design routers and a quick google search pinpointed alot of bad user reports on that router. I would try to purchase a better brand of a router such as a Netgear brand or a Linksys brand, Personaly I would go with the linksys since you can have so much fun playing with the firmware of it, such as boosting Wireless signals, VPN support and alot more that is designed for a enterprise router,.

Ex-Marine here, keep up the good work over there dude. Anyway, it do sounds like your router to me too. I been having that same problem and I had to replace mine. Even though it could any host of problems, that might be what you would have to do. (you said you have latest firmware and that solves a lot of issues) Do you have a back up router just in case? I would also think that it may be a problem with your IP. If you connect with it to your PC, do it still cut out after few mins or hours?

I had the same problem before. In my case the router was old & over heated sometimes.(Linksys B)Since you're in Iraq I'd say heat is the issue.

Is the router overheating? It could be. Years ago, I had the same problem and found out I needed to put a actual fan directed at the router. It cured the problem immediately. Hope it helps you guys! Thank you for all you do for all of us. Also make sure you are not maxing out the users on this router, it could max out if additional users (more than the requirements can handle). That leaves you connected with no connection (shows you on but can't handle the additional PC). If this doesn't help email me!
