i have a WLAN finder on my phone in which i can access the internet with if i can pick up a wireless router signal. My home internet is set as hidden, and when i search for it on my phone 'hidden wlan' comes up, but i can't actually access the internet. Is there any way i can do this?

First, hidden SSID's really don't work anymore like they used to. Log on to the router and turn on the SSID, then connected your phone! If you still want your SSID hidden, log back on to the router and hide it! Your phone will store the connection and still work in MOST cases!

Really hidden SSID's aren't much protection, use WPA or WPA2 encryption to protect your system and set the SSID to something unique to your router.

There is a way, but it will be troublesome to do if yo do not know the SSID (wireless name) and wireless encryption type (WEP/WPA/WPA2)

If you are aware of the SSID, instead of detecting network automatically.you key in the SSID yourself and the wireless encryption password yourself.

If not, use a PC and connect to the wireless network. When connected, take note of the SSID.

Take note, for some phone, they can only support up to WEP. Hence if you are using wireless security with WPA or WPA2, you might need to change your wireless encryption to WEP. To do that, go to the router setting and configure

You need to manually enter the SSID name of the wireless router and the pass key. Presumably your phone has WiFi allows you to manually enter the settings - consult the user manual or online help for the phone.

If you don't know the SSID name and passkey, ask the owner of the router.
