I recently bought a new Netgear DM111PSP-100NAS Broadband ADSL2+ Modem and am trying to connect it back to my computer while running it through a Linksys WRT1100 Wireless Router. About a week ago, I was able to connect to the internet through this pathway with no problems, giving me wireless internet throughout my house, but after my Netgear modem was accidentally reset once by my brother, I have not been able to connect wirelessly. I have tried reinstalling both the Linksys and Netgear software to no avail, and when I try to reconfigure my linksys router, it says that there is a connectivity issue with the ethernet port and that there is no internet connection, however the computer will register on the network and sharing center that there is a connection, but nothing on my internet browser will load. Also, I can only connect to the internet if I am plugged directly from the back of my modem into my computer, and if I run it to the linksys, I can't connect to the internet. My question is how to fix this problem so that I can have wireless internet again. I do not speak computer language well at all, so please simplify what you say, and to give you a mental image of what I am dealing with, I have the netgear modem running to the wireless router via ethernet and from the router to the back of the computer.

You are able to connect to the internet through your modem but not through your router means that your router is not configured properly. First disconnect the modem from the computer. Using an ethernet cable connect the WAN port of the router to the ethernet port of the computer. You have to reset the router by pressing the pin at the back for few seconds to establish the default values. Now open a browser in your computer and type in the address bar 192.168.1.1. This is generally the IP address of the router. Refer your manual if this address does not work. You need a user ID and password. Generally these are admin, admin. Refer your router manual. Once the configuration page is open, change the LAN IP to some thing like 192.168.1.8. This is to avoid an IP clash. Now create a wifi connection by naming it and giving it a password. If MAC address filtering is enabled you will have to type in the MAC number of your ethernet card/lap top. Save and log out. Disconnect the router from the computer and connect it to he modem. Connect the modem to the computer. The DHCP should be enabled for the modem but not for the router.

Please give a feed back if this works.

You shouldn't need to reset the netgear if you can connect directly from it.

Check the sites in the sources, the linksys FAQs, while connected to your modem and save or print the info.

Disconnect everything again. Press and hold the reset button on the Linksys for 30 seconds.

Connect the Linksys and you computer via Ethernet cable to a LAN port on the Linksys.

Once you have a connection you shold be able to go to 192.168.1.1 in a web browser.

Username = Password = admin.

I sort of trust #a million, a solid thank you to purpose (all the time) is to have 2 browsers. IE's caching is (for my area) services to truly some fake blunders. I continuously have 2 of the two IE, Firefox, Opera or Safari. If using IE, examine disk area, blunders log, and clean the cache.
