My dell d620 will not connect to my secured wireless network. It has a 1390 Wlan mini card installed.
It see's the secure network but when I try to connect it just times out. I've tried using both the Windows wireless configuration tool as well as the dell config tool.
Thewierd thing is it will connect to a unsecure network with no problem.

there seems to be a conflict with the encryption between your secured wireless network and the wlan. my suggestion would be to first disable the windows firewall in your security settings. (controlpanel>network and internet connections>windows firewall). from there you can disable the windows firewall just on your wlan card by turning off the setting. don't worry about disabling this feauture as your network is secured;you are still protected. hope this helps.

It sounds like the security settings on the laptop are not matching the ones on the router. Reconfigure the laptop's wireless network, check the SSID, wireless key, encryption and authentication.

Also be aware that some wireless cards are not compatible with new technologies like WPA or WPA2.
