Hi all, i have come to a bit of a stand still on this. I would like to purchase cat6e for a full home remodel that i am currently undertaking. I have been presented with two options, "solid copper" or "copper clad aluminium (CCA)".

I have researched the CCA and I have had mixed feedback for cat6e gigabit installations. Could someone please advise which I should purchase? Furthermore I have located this site, what do you think about the cat6 cables here?

Go with solid copper.

Make sure that the jacks and patch panel are Cat6 as well so that everything can be certified at Cat6 speeds. Also be sure that your equipment is capable of gigabit or you will not see the speed increase. Since this is a full home remodel, though, running Cat6 now even though all of the devices may not be gigabit capable is a very sensible thing to do as it leave room for future equipment upgrades without needing a wiring upgrade later.

oh MY **GOD**!! Aluminum wire? It isn't good enough to throw into the scrap wire bin.

Cat6e is good for gigabit going 100 meters. Unless you have a huge house your longest run will be just 20 meters and you can go gigabit on Cat-5. Cat6e will be capable of 100Gbit when it happens -- which is why you want the best.

For Cat6, stick with copper.

No reputable person (in my opinion only....) would use CCA for Ethernet cabling...

Why "cheap it out" when your network relies on proper cabling. Corrosion between Al and Cu on punch downs would be an issue - you would need punch downs or jacks that are rated Cu/Al, else it will corrode!

If you can afford it, get solid copper wiring. Its more conductive and send's electrical signal's much better then aluminum. Im guessing your wiring this to either desktop's or other possible devices that are stationary. If so make sure your hardware including the router/switch is capable of gigabit speeds.

determine you run the right rated in wall cable. this could additionally be a stable time to get your 10 3 hundred and sixty 5 days checklist out. it could encompass what you desire to characteristic on your device in the subsequent 10 years. Use contemporary standards for a ultimate wager. the biggest concern is get entry to. Inevitability a sparkling customary will pop out. What seems on the horizon is a sparkling fiber optic interface for top speed transfers. i can undergo in innovations individuals mad that element became unlikely for use for 1080p and that they had to put in HDMI. whilst they extra the room HDMI/DVI wasn't even a concept and only 2 years they have been ripping into partitions. You ultimate guess is to make the runs attainable. seem at drop ceilings, twine chases, over-sized conduits, etc. to make the technique much less puzzling. in case you desire to have the television fixed on the wall i could heavily seem at different innovations, on account that's a undergo to rerun cables for those contraptions. incredibly the entire sound point for embody is thrown off by making use of a wall that on the factor of the lower back of the audio device, makes the entire component look overly flat. EDIT: Monoprice and Bluejeans cables are junk. Monster may be overpriced for the kit you have. Use my 10% rule and audition cables to make into your device. That reported make optimistic your cables if copper have oxidation secure practices interior of. that's somewhat greater high priced yet you preserve in the long-term. in case you have no longer have been given partitions lined this may be the time to call a consultant installer to prewire custom lengths of severe high quality cable. the cost ought to be specially twine and not exertions considering the fact that they have get entry to to the partitions. Plus you'll be able to desire to no longer could desire to have a inspection after if the installer is qualified properly. verify your community development inspectors workplace for info.
