How To Open this FTP Serve - Solve this Error Please!!?

Hi Friends, i want to open a FTP server which is web405.ixwebhosting.com. i have the user name and password to open. i have tried all softwares like filezilla, cuteFTP, smart FTP and mozilla plug in to open it. but none of them worked. All software says that " CONNECTION TIMED OUT". what it means??? error in server? or username, password incorrect?? i also want to know if i have to open any ports for this?? which port it uses?? solve this problem please. i need to open that server. please help me.

i could connect using FileZilla, but anonymous connections not allowed:



using port 21

It means you either have the wrong address, wrong port number, or there is no ftp server running on the server you are trying to connect to.

Your ISP most likely will not block port 21. I can telnet to that IP:



C:\>telnet 98.130.2.7 21



220 ProFTPD 1.3.2 Server (Main FTP Server) [98.130.2.7]



So it is listening. This means there must be another reason. One possible outcome is that your local machine is blocking it. Please disable any firewall or anti-virus and try then. You can also attempt to telnet to it to check if you can connect to it using the commands that I used.
