i have reinstalled the adapter. just got a new wireless modem from my wifi provider this week. and also did a computer refresh. and i still am not getting internet anywhere in my home except the room where the modem is. i also updated the family controller today. another thing i have notice is this, i used to have a list of available network from neighboring homes and none of them show up anymore. Only mine appears on that list. not important to me but i think that says something is amiss. any help would be greatly appreciated. i certainly am open to the fact that i may have messed up some settings trying to "fix this issue myself. also i dont know much about : homegroups etc so if there are settings there that could be causing an issue....i may have changed something there as well. NOTE. when i go into AVANCED SETTINGS in the DIVICE MANAGER>NETWORK ADAPTERS> REALTEK WIFI ADAPT>ADVANCED SETTINGS> there are a bunch of settings to choose from and the box just says DISABLED ( for any of those settings) when i chose the first one and enabled it..it made NO difference with the problem that im having. i assume when i update the driver the settings are set automatically to what they should be???? thanks again.

First of it is not a Modem it is a WIFI ROUTER and the settings you need to be looking at are in the Router not the computer.

WIFI Provider??? Do not understand. Don't you mean Internet Service Provider. WIFI is NOT an Internet connection. All WIFI does is connect your computer to your ROUTER. To be able to connect to the Internet your Router has to be connected by CABLE or Mobil Broadband.

If you not picking up your neighbours WIFI Signal then there is something wrong with the WIFI adapter your using. It does not have a good antenna. Same reason why your not picking up a signal in other rooms from your own WIFI Router.

I would get a new WIFI Adapter. But if you have a Laptop it has a built in WIFI Adapter. How does it work.

WIFI Signals are effected by Metal in the Walls and Bricks.

The best thing you can do is list whats is disabled and "We" can confirm if it should be that way....

I don't have a RealTech adapter i have a NetGear... but client adapters will all have the same default settings...

And on my current box I am running a .11 b/n/g adapter which is same as yours "N"... SORRY Im running a Dual Band "AC"

Here is what i have Disabled:

40Mhz Intolerant

Afterburner

Associated Roam Preference

Disabled Upon Wired Connect

Lock Wireless Settings

Mixed Cell Support

SSID Autopromote

WZC Managed Ethernet

XPress [Trade Mark] Technology
