I've got a 2651xm Router and a Cisco Router 1760, I use them in the morning, but when it comes to night time I turn them off. Now the problem is every time I turn them on in the morning the configuration gets deleted, I mean when I turn it on I get this message.
--- System Configuration Dialog --

Would you like to enter the initial configuration dialog? [yes/no]:

This happens on both Routers.

Is something wrong with them?

Nothing is wrong as such as the router is going through the initial configuration process

The reason it does this is because you probably haven't saved the configuration before turning it off

To save the configuration you need to run "copy run start" from the CLI

When you do that the running configuration you've created is copied to the startup configuration which is saved in NVRAM

When the router loads it will then load the configuration from the startup configuration instead of going through the initial configuration process

Rubbing the screw driver across the circuit board, most normally have got to have short circuited because of either elctrostatic costs or the possibilty would be that some connections are damaged on the circuit. Contacting CISCO wud be the first option and any neighborhood vendor who repairs WAN instruments would be 2d one. If it was once in India, im definite it could have repaired, offered the damage will not be too much. Hope that answers ur question take care jeet
