Hi...
I still facing a strange problem with my internet!!!
As I mentioned before.
I had DSL internet connection in my house, on my main computer.
why when I connect a laptop through the ethernet the internet doesn't work!!! it says: no connectivity..
in my laptop I go to command prompt/ipconfig/all.. So I found the (IP address)but the (media is disconnected)!and no (default gateway Ip)or DNS/WINS servers!!! what that's mean! How can I let it connect and work?!
On my main computer every thing is OK.
>when I connect my laptop some where els through the ethernet I get the internet right away..only in my house! is this problem from DSL!
((How can I let my laptop connected to the internet through the ethernet..?!
If step by step it will be great....
Please...
I will be thankful...

I think your service provider has restriceted your connection to single computer based.

If so then call him to check it.

or if you are using only on your labtop you should try to configure a static IP instead of DHCP

try this or 3rd can be your internet broser is using any proxy end that and check the internet.

4th try to ping your router's ip and yours computers ip if it works then

5th check the fire wall and allow file and printer sharing in both pc's

6th in static ip you shoud use the ip of your desktop in your default gate way if it works ok

7th if it still not works then also use same ip in your dns1 leave the 2nd empty.

8th have you check the option of ICS in your desktop computer or main computer.

9th if it still not works then I cant tell you any thing.

Hmmm..are you using a router or direct connection to the DSL Modem? If your direct connected to the modem after hot swapping the ethernet cord from your desktop you would probably have to powercycle your modem (unplug pwer cord for 30 seconds and plug back in.) If your using a router, you may have a bad ethernet port on the router. Try swapping ports on the router and see if that gains you connectivity. Also try swapping your ethernet cable with another. Hope this helps.

How do you connect the laptop to your DSL? If the DSL modem doesn't have a router built in (more than one ethernet connector), try getting a router.
