I'm trying to reconnect my daughters Fujitsu siemens esprimo laptop to my broadbanD connection since totally rebooting it back to factory settings, but all it seems to do is try to use a dial up connection (which I don't have)

It doesn't detect any broadband at all when I try and connect to a network, even though mine shows at least 4 in a close area.

I get a window which states..
'install networking hardware and verify that the correct drivers are loaded'

My connection is a standard sky netgear router.

I have tried connecting using the ethernet lead but with no luck!

Sounds like it didn't install the drivers for your network cards.

Go to start

control panel

system

When the box comes up go to hardware

click the device manager tab

scroll down to the network cards and click the plus sign

if you see anything with an exclamation point beside it the drivers are either not present or not installed correctly

Right click them and choose update drivers

If that doesn't work you may have to install the drivers on a flash driver or other external source (cd, dvd) and install them. You can get the drivers by going to the manufacturers website or do a google search if you know their name.

Check the hardware manager for the laptop to ensure all the correct drivers are installed for the network adapters.

If you see any yellow plings ! alongside your hardware then the drivers are not installed. Find the drivers CD that cam with the laptop and run the setup to install the necessary drivers.

You have to manually change the settings unless you have software that does it for you. They are normally named a connection WIZARD.
