According to the icon in my status bar, I'm not connected to the Internet. I just clicked on an it's asking me to connect to a network. But I'm here! I can still go to any page on the internet with no problem, google search stuff etc, watch youtube, sign into facebook and myspace. In fact, everything works. So how come I'm still able to access everything when I'm not connected?

It might be talking about a wired connection not wireless. Or the other way around.

My laptop's done that before.

First of all though, make sure you're looking at the right icon. Right click and press connect to a network. It should come up with a screen showing all possible networks around you.

What I did when I had that problem is I doubled clicked the one I was connected to and the icon changed ot connected.

I hope it works for you, sorry if it's no help.

Other than that, don't worry about it to much, as long as you have internet!

If you mean the 2 computers with the red X through it down in the task bar and says Network Cable is Unplugged, go to Start > Connect To > Show All Connections. Find the one that says network cable unplugged. Right click on it, and click Disable.

Proof that Computers are not intelligent devices...

Answer: Ignore it :D

Resolution: Probably re-install your operating system. It is likely that this is a deep registry or dll problem. Something that is not going to 'fix itself' or go away.

A fresh start - in Windows - is often the easiest way to fix mundane little bugs like this that would otherwise drain weeks out of your social life in hunting for an actual solution to that one little problem that just won't go away!
