i can ping the ip but cannot open a shared drive on the same server. I am running a windows server 2003. I am using a software firewall ISA server standard edition. I am using remote and routing service to share the internet among our small company. I am trying to open the shared folder on the server system using \\aaa.aaa.aaa.123\sharing but no network path is found message is coming to me from outside of my domain. I can ping to the server like ping aaa.aaa.aaa.123. Still i can not open the folder named sharing on the same server. My server is having a public ip.
Please help me. I want to access my shared folder from outside of my domain.
Thanks in advance

Check the firewall settings on the client PC. Make sure print and file sharing are allowed.

hi friend first of all remove that sharing folder. and again try the new share and give that some other name. then from the client computer check that if you are logged in the the same machine. if you are logged in the same machine then log off and log into the server. after you log into the server then right click on the my computer and click on map network drive after that instead of giving IP address give \\server name\shared folder name if the challenge will come then give the administrators user name and its password. if this will not work then try disabling firewall. if this is not possible then try out some settings in the ISA server. possibly try to give proper server name or shared computers name instead of IP. thanks.

You need to disable the windows firewall or make an exception for your connection.

Welcome to one of the major problems with Active Directory.

You MIGHT be able to add your system as a trusted object.

You may not be able to.

Your sure method of being able to get to the share is to add your system to the domain. And make sure your OU has the requisite permissions for the share.

first of all check for the Permissions i.e. share & ntfs.

Aslo i suggest to try with FQDN. full name of your server.....
