Question:
WiFi network connectivity problems with Dell D610 notebook (network secuity key mismatch)?

Yesterday I performed a hard disk clean of Windows XP and installed Windows 7 Ultimate, I was having problems with finding the household wireless network and it kept telling me that the wireless card was missing. I went to the Dell website and downloaded numerous drivers which were recommended (system software, chipsets, network card) and now my notebook picks up the wireless networks

Trouble is, when i try to connect to it, and enter the pass key, it keeps telling me there is a 'Network security key mismatch' which I don't quite understand, as im using the correct key.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Check to make sure you don't need to choose the type of password (WEP, TKIP, etc.). I'm not 100% sure how to check this on your laptop so I'm not going to try and guide you with it. If you can;t figure it out hopefully someone else can post how to do it here.

Also, try just going through control panel and get to the wireless card settings and tell it to check/update drivers that way, you may have ended up with a corrupt file or may be missing one from when you downloaded them from the website.

it incredibly is likely which you have no longer related the router to the internet. to try this you'll would desire to open IE and pass to the default router IP which could be 192.168.a million.a million as quickly as right here you would be asked on your broadband username and password enter those information and connect. as quickly because it incredibly is completed you could close down this website in case you decide on be sure while entering into the secure practices code on the computer you're utilising the only on the sticky label on the backside of the router. as quickly because it incredibly is completed your no longer required to have the well-known laptop switched directly to get admission to the internet because it incredibly is completed promptly in the process the router. the laptop will would desire to be on once you're attempting to get admission to community materials on that laptop.

Make sure you're using the correct encryption type, WEP or WPA, also.

Hope that helps.
