The DNS server isn't responding?

Hey.
Yesterday night I surfed the web, then somehow it stopped working.
I tried using the internet in every program, yahoo messenger, firefox, IE, nowere works, except torrent downloads.
I tried to put the OpenDNS's, they won't work either.
Restarting the router won't work either.
I am using Windows 7, and at the Network and sharing center it looks ok, shows as connected to the internet.
I get this error while troubleshooting.
I also tried to disable the Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter, that won't work either.
Tried to put a static IP, won't work either.
I have a laptop using Windows XP, on which the Internet is working.
I also got an exact same laptop, with Windows 7, again, internet is working.
I really have no idea what is wrong...
Any help is appreciated.

ok since you tried all those including formatting and problem comes back. urm if its not too troublesome this is what i will do if im suspecting virus is coming elsewhere back again. its pretty technical and bit tedous

i presume this scenerio. > fresh OS , nothing installed.no AV either.yet problem comes back. image the OS out if you know to safe your trouble of reinstalling it.

you will need a fresh OS without plugging into the network first for the below troubleshooting steps.( but assign a static IP)

1)download wireshark. its a network sniffer. freeware http://www.wireshark.org/download.html

2) once it is prepared, start capturing.

a) under interface list

b) start capturing on (choose the network connection card you will be using to connect to internet eg cable or the wifi

3) now plug into the internet and try surfing .

***note the wireshark capture from the moment you plug into the network.

5) try surfing to yahoo until you hit the problem

*** immediate note the point of capture when u hit the problem

6) wait 2-3 seconds and stop the capture(menu: capture>stop)

note the source and destination OR post the result here if you dun understand the result.

let me know your static ip your assign and all other pc/notebook's IP you have in your network too. i will continue from there.

I think you got some spyware that I have seen going around.

First off download super antispyware free edition...to USB.

Boot your computer to safe mode, install and run full scan.

Then reboot normally, click Start...run...cmd

at the DOS prompt type ... ping yahoo.com

If that comes back successful, open Internet Explorer.

Goto Tools, Internet Options, Connections, Lan Settings.

Inside there is Proxy checked? If it is, deselect it and select automatically detect my connection.

That will do it. This new spyware out allows you to do everything, but DNS goes down because your computer wants to connect to the Internet through a site that doesnt exist, so it fails.

Good luck

Open up your router's settings, perhaps you can get it from a browser by going to 192.168.1.254/

Go to the DNS settings and try setting it to Google's DNS (8.8.8.8). It's been working well for me.

have you tried flushing your DNS?

click start, then type cmd in the box, then type

/ipconfig flushdns

that should do the trick
