1. There's no reason you cant have more than one server on a domain. Just join it to the domain like you would any other computer.

2. Windows 7 is a client OS, whereas Windows 2008 Server is a server OS. 2008 has many functions only a server would have, including Mail, Web, DNS, and other such services.

3. You can use any OS on your server and still join it to the domain.

1. Yes it is possible, just set up the server and tell it which domain to connect to (you will need an account with domain priveleges)

2. Windows 7 is a standalone OS (like XP) and windows Server is made for domains and is a server OS (EG Windows Server 2003)

3. Yes, it is. You should be able to join any server to any domain (providing it's the same OS family (eg mac, linux, windows etc))

4. If you need to be asking these questions, you should do your research before even thinking about touching a windows server

I would set up a subdomain and then change the A Record to the IP address of the server you want to use. Also, as a server OS, Linux is a little bit more flexible and generally better. You would still be able to use Windows 7 on your local machine.

Are you the network admin? I suggest that you attend a course to understand it. The question ask deals with it. It will make you more marketable and may very well pay you alot more then going thru trial and error that is what you are doing.
