Problem loading web pages - "Resolving host..."?

Every time I try to load a page I have to wait about 30 seconds to "resolve host". I'm currently using Google Chrome but this delay occurs with Internet Explorer and Firefox too. When using Google Chrome a grey box appears on the bottom left saying "resolving host" until the page loads and then the connection seems to be fine.

My laptop is the only one in the house having this problem so I assume I just need to change something in my settings, however I don't know enough about computer to mess around with it.

I have used another internet connection since this started happening and this problem doesn't seem to happen on the other connection.

I have tried clearing cookies, browsing history etc. and DNS pre-fetching is turned off. I've restarted the computer since doing this but still nothing. In network connections I tried disabling everything except wireless network connection. That didn't help either.

Any ideas?

Firstly, restart your router and flush your DNS via CMD.

If this makes no impact you should consider using OpenDNS.

Its probably the server the other end... was it on a different continent, always a factor !! Could be a overloaded DNS server its local to you , but your ISP operates this system ..... out of your hands. This resolves domain names to ip-addresses and if lots of people are on line can really slow things up. You'll know this is the problem if the second time you go to a site it loads quick. NBA game, if its live, could be distributed by multicast, this improves certain thing like web-TV by x1000 as only one stream is needed giving groups of 10s 100ss 1000s of people a copy of something simultaneously. You could have malware !!

There appears to be a problem with your net connection.

restart your modem/router and try.

if this does not work call your ISP.
