I have 2 laptops, both were Acer. So, I planned to share internet connection between Ubuntu and Windows 7 laptops. Situation: I have connected mobile broadband modem to windows 7 laptop, started ad hoc. Then, on Ubuntu laptop, with the ad hoc network connected, i cant surf internet using ubuntu laptop...while windows 7 can.

Two possibilities.

One: your ISP is stingy and won't ALLOW more than one MAC address at a time.

Two: Windows doesn't want to share.

If it's 1: hard to get around that.

If it's 2: plug the mobile broadband modem into a WiFi Router and let it assign IP addresses automatically. BTW, that probably still won't fool the ISP.

You will need a router to connect both computer online at the same time.

you can setup a network called an ad-hoc but you need a direct line into the internet unless your wireless card supports it. intel 5300 support this.
