It sounds like your router has WEP(security key) turned on. When they installed your router, they should have given you a paper with the wireless security key on it. Probably won't be able to connect until you know that key.

If you have the user guide for that router, you'll have to access the administration screen, then go to wireless security to see or change the settings.

ok then first connect the modem to the laptop through the wire and open start - run - then type cmd and press enter

in the dos screen type (ipconfig) then enter you will see the numbers and you will fiend some one next to default gate way

remember that one and type it in the address bar in the interntet explorer then press enter

it will open the configuration wizard for the wireless router on your screen you can go from there

if your router was configured before then take the number you got for the default gate was and open your wireless network properties go to IPv4 and duble click on it and in the dufult gate way address type that number and in your ip address type the first 3 octets the same and change the last .\

and enjoy your internet.....

well u have to login to your router and setup new key in order to access your internet via wireless, or check around the router if ur provider already setup a key for your routerthey will add small label on the back of router , in now days almost all the provider do the same ,

you need to ahve a prompt router/modem interior reach in the journey that your can get prompt on a working laptop or computer regardless of the shown fact that it shouldnt have something to do which includes your computer. that is how the gadget (usually) works. Your modem plugs into the wall and gets the information superhighway which then is going to a router which brodcasts a sign. Your computer possibilities up on it and your workstation ought to be waiting to besides. you opt for a prompt adapter on your workstation. in case you have XP then bypass to regulate panel>community connections and on the side bar you have to be waiting to discover what your searching for. The set up differs from router to router.

All you need is login to your modem and find encryption type (normally WEP) and encryption key. After getting this information, create the network manually. Hopefully it'll work. Good luck!
