Currently i have a home server setup and port forwarded and everything. The problem is that if someone tries to go to my site when the server is off, it brings them to the router login page (gateway) which I see as a huge security risk. Since the router login page is on port 80 and so is my server, i would like to change the gateway porn on my router so in order to enter the config page i would have to enter "192.168.1.1:####" with the hashtags being the port number. Is this possible or would anyone be able to suggest a workaround?

All routers have an option to change the remote admin port, or better still, just disable remote access to the router.

Are you sure that someone from elsewhere on the Internet is actually experiencing that? What you describe seems possible when you're from inside the local network and the router just redirects you internally.

The Best suggestion is to Disable the WAN configuration of the router... or Web Access.

This doesn't disable the Router Configuration, just the access from outside the network.

as actually they aren't using the 192.168.1.1:80 (LAN)

They are actually using your WAN IP address x.x.x.x:80 (WAN)

So Disable the WAN configuration of our router.

Or use your own Suggestion of changing the Port of your Router Web Access to port 8080
