I have got a problem with my Motorola NetOpia 3000 DSL modem during configuration & connecting. I entered the following information while configuring it:

VPI: 0
VCI: 103
Protocol: PPP Over Ethernet LLC/SNAP
Bridging: Disable
Concurrent Bridging/Routing: Disable
PPPoE/DHCP Autosensing: Ticked "enable"
User ID: 03005980857k
Password: *********
Static IP Address: 0.0.0.0
IP Gateway: 192.168.1.1
Primary DNS Server: 0.0.0.0
UpnP: enable

When I tried to save it and tried to connect it, it gave me "Can not connect with target service. Go help disk." error. I talked to your Engineer on 1218 and he also advised me to enter the above information while configuring it.

Can you please tell me why doesn't my DSL modem accept User ID and password provided by my ISP and how to fix this out?

DSL modems do not require much configuration, and Netopia DSL modems make that process even easier by incorporating an automatic configuration program. To access the auto-config program, however, you need to access the modem's configuration interface using a Web browser.

Instructions

1

Connect the phone line from the wall to the port on the back of the DSL modem.

2

Connect the Ethernet cable from the computer to the port on the back of the DSL modem.

Plug the modem's power adapter into the modem, then connect the adapter to an electrical socket.

4

Open a Web browser on the computer and type in "192.168.1.254", without the quotation marks. When you push "Enter," you will be taken to the modem's Web configuration interface.

5

Enter your desired admin password, then type it again to confirm it.

6

Click on "Connect to the Internet." The modem will configure itself. If you are not using PPPoE, you modem is configured and ready for use. If you are using PPPoE, when prompted, enter the PPPoE username and password provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP). Your ISP will let you know if you have PPPoE when you sign up for Internet service.

7

Close the browser when you see the congratulations screen.
