Extreme is more expensive so I figure it is better, but they seem the same, really. What's the difference and why is Extreme better? Thanks.

The extreme is larger, and two versions come with a wireless back-up drive called 'Time Machine.' It allows for a USB printer, USB external Hard Drive and has extra network ports to hard wire computers into the home network.
The express is a smaller version with no back-up hard drive. It allows for one USB Printer and it can connect to your home stereo and stream your iTunes music library from your computer to your home stereo (the extreme can not do this). It is also a convenient size if you want to take it on travel to create a quick and easy hotel wireless network (plugging the hotel provided 'wired internet' into it).
Example setup: I have an Airport Extreme with a 500 GB Time Machine drive that resides in my living room. It backs up my MacBook via the wireless and my XBox 360 is hard wired to it. I also have an Airport Express downstairs with a USB laser printer hooked to it so I can print wirelessly from my laptop anywhere in the house. It is also hooked up to the stereo in the downstairs den so I can stream music to it when we have parties. The express also helps extend my wireless network's reach through-out the house and between floors.
