I have an optical internet connection (no modem, just a cable going dirrectly in my network PC card, and I use an username and password to connect). I have a dynamic IP. and when I try to ping a specific site... it says "destination port unreachable"... but the site works like 1 in 100 times. HOW CAN I SOLVE it? Because I'm desperate. Thank you. It works for all other sites just this one gives me the error even though it sometimes works.

It means the site block the port for ping's protocol (ping used Internet Control Message Protocol or ICMP ). ICMP works at the network layer of OSI layer.

Yuo must contact the site admin for permit the ping packet request.

Have you used any Firewall settings? the IP of the web site might be blocked in your local network. Have you tried accessing the website using other location?

well first of all the format is xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, not xx.xx.xx.xx. also, it could be that the website has a firewall that blocks ICMP ping requests, but the one that gets through could be caused by overload of the firewall.
