I recently set up a wireless router for a computer a few days ago, everything was working fine until one morning I tried to use my web browsers but they would not load. Tried everything I could think of, tried a lot of solutions and ended up figuring out it's DNS settings. Whenever I hook up my Wireless Router to my Modem my DNS settings set to some specific address instead of automatic, and whenever I click automatic, my web pages will load but only for about 10 seconds, then if I try to load another it'll go back to not loading at all. Does anyone have any solutions as to what could be constantly changing my DNS settings for my Internet Protocol 4 back to a specific set? Thank you.

Well if you are setting your DNS to automatic then it's your DHCP that keeps changing your DNS settings. You will have to configure a Static DNS setting. Try to use 8.8.8.8 as your DNS address and see if that fixes the problem.

If you have selected automatic settings, and later you find manual settings have been configured, or you've set DNS addresses that become altered, you have malware on the computer hijacking your DNS server.  Scan the computer with the free utilities MalwareBytes Anti-Malware and AdwCleaner.

Your DNS server settings it can be set on your individual devices or on your router to affect all devices at once. Here are instructions. http://www.grc.com/dns/configuring.htm

Your computer is normally set to use the default gateway (router) as the DNS server. You can change the default DNS server in the router or computer configuration.

You need DNS, but don't have to use your ISP nameservers.

You could use one of Google's public DNS servers. https://developers.google.com/speed/publ... , OpenDNS http://www.opendns.com/business-solution... , or any number of others.

Here is a wealth of information and a utility for nameserver configuration https://www.grc.com/dns/benchmark.htm

Run malwarebytes.org
