I need to configure it to my laptop which is wireless, but because of this password & user protection it wont connect. I've tried the reset button to no avail. Is there any way I can configure it & reset the user & password? Please help! :-)

reset the router.
there will be a button at the back usually that you can press in for about 10 seconds.
this will restore the router back to factory settings.

To reset a router you have to hold the reset button down for a while. If that wont work you can most likely log into the router setup with user: admin / pass: password
I believe netgears are at http://192.168.0.1, you may have to run ipconfig if the gateway has been changed. Good luck.

There is a button somewhere on the back of the machine that will reset it to the original state... try using that.
