I live in downtown and i have access to many free wifi hotspot.

The network pattern i want is this way--> free wifi hotspot to my puppy linux laptop to my cisco e2000 router to my windows 7 desktops.....

basicly im guessing if i can use the free wifi connection my linux laptop is using and redirecting it via my router to my pc desktop ?

should i need 2 routers ?

i already found a linux program called: dnsmasq that ccan do something similar but im not really sure...

To make it short, yes, it's perfectly possible but you are best dropping the router - you don't need it and it's only going to get in the way. Connect the machines via a switch, or if there is only two of them via crossover cable.



You'll need to enable IP forwarding and network address translation on the Linux machine.



Although the Linux machine certianly can act as a DHCP server that is more to set up, for a small number of machines it'll be easier simply to use static IP addresses.
