Here's the problem i have a dsl modem running into a netgear wireless router. the problem is the connection on the desktop wants to go limited connectivity and it is connected using a lan line, but while the desktop wont connect i can still get online using my ipod touch through the wireless. The desktop can run all day with no problems connecting but at night it acts up. I tend to stream a lot of shows at night. On a side note this problem seems to come and go without warning. Some times i can go a month with out dropping a connection then other times i cant stay on 5 mins Any help would be great.

Alright. You have some type of connection issue within your router, that is where the true problem lies. A router will automatically assign IP addresses to your computers and etc. in a network. If for some reason there is a conflicting IP address already existing in the network, you will notice that the yellow warning sign appears and says limited connectivity.

This also happens when your router is about to kick the bucket, so perhaps you need a new router. Try doing a hard reset(push the reset button on the router), and reconfigure it using the security settings that you had already. Also, try using DHCP configuration. This may solve your issue. Automatically obtain your IP's within your network(Setting the computer to "Automatically obtain" IP addresses) ONLY if you have ever manually entered one.

Right click on the connection in the system tray and select trouble shoot problems. You may have to reset the router and cable modem as well. Remember too, if you reset the router you will have to reconfigure all the wireless stuff in it.
