How do I put my external hard drive on my network?

Question

I own a 250GB External Hard Drive that connections via USB to any one of my three computers. How can I just connect the thing to my Linksys Router to network the hard drive without having to run it off a computer?

Without Ethernet it Will not work....(or if you have a printer like min with a USB port on it...and a Network connection on the other side that might work...not sure though)

Just join in the network where your external hard drive is. before you join make sure the external hard drive is allowed for sharing..just go to your main PC where your external hard drive hooked up too..go to my computer as you can see c: meaning that is your main drive im not sure what drive letter is your external hard drive probably D: or F: right click onto the external hard drive click sharing and security and allow it..once done go to your PC you want to connect too make sure all your PCs is in the same workgroup ok that will allow connection to where your external HD ..Also you can share a printer by doing this too. since you are in the same workgroup network... but you must allow sharing too ok. since all your PCs connected to your router you can network all your PCs together for sharing by doing on what i said. If you don't know what workgroup right click on MY COMPUTER click onto COMPUTER NAME u'll see what workgroup you are you can also change it to whatever you want..if you wish by clicking CHANGE but remember all PCs has to be all the same WORKGROUP to make it work.
