None of these answers seem very clear to me... anyway, perhaps you new to put turn on the 'join networks" thing that is in the wifi app of your ipod, have you tried that?

Let's properly define what you want to do: 1. You do not wish to pay for an Internet service to your location. 2. You want to steal a wireless internet signal from your neighbor without his permission. This is not legal and not ethical. Since the neighbor failed to properly secure the internet does not mean it is free for you to take it. 3. In fact, public Wi Fi may not be availalbe but if you can get Internet service, you can create your own wireless network via a wireless access point. You have to pay for your Internet service just like everyone else does. 4. Apparently you are on the edge of reception of the stolen neighbor's signal. Probably there is little you can do.

First, upgrade the firmware if you haven’t done so recently. If you don’t know how to do this, the support pages (the “Ask Linksys” link) on the Linksys site can guide you step by step. This upgrade is the solution for many with the same problem.

Second, you should reset the router back to factory settings. You can do this by either pressing the reset button on the router for 30 seconds, or you can also do it from the router’s web-based setup page. If you don’t now how to get to that page, the “Ask Linksys” link can show you that too.

Since you just reset your router, your WI-FI signal is free for anyone to use. From here, I suggest you set up a password for your router so no one can use your signal from this point on.

Are you using security on the connection (wpa, wep, wpa2, etc..)? If so, check to make sure you put in the correct key. If not, try doing a hard reboot of the ipod (or just let it completely die then try again).

Do you have WPA enabled on your router? If so turn it off and use WEP instead.

Also, in your iPod, go into your wifi settings and under the DHCP tab click on Renew Lease.

Try to go to start RUN and type cmd. Then in the black window type ipconfig /release. Once thats done try ipconfig /renew. Then X out and try again
