The advice below is from Microsoft's website. I found it by googling the error number provided. Most likely, the first option will resolve the issue; I had a similar issue when setting up Outlook.

Use one of the three options below.

NOTE: Do not combine the first option with either the second or third option.

•Click to select the My server requires authentication check box, which is located in the Outgoing Mail Server properties in Outlook Express.

•On the Exchange Server 5.5 computer, open the Internet Mail Service properties. On the Connections tab, click Accept Connections. Click to clear the Only from hosts using Authentication and the Clients can only submit if homed on this server check boxes.

•On the Exchange 2000 server, enable Anonymous Access on the Authentication tab of the SMTP virtual server.

Did you recently switch ISPs but forget to change the incoming and outgoing mail server settings in Outlook?

From http://portal.gci.net/support/kb/kb68

This error message is coming from the mail server, not from Outlook Express. This error means that the SMTP (outgoing) mail server did not recognize you as an authorized user and rejected your e-mail message. Most ISPs (Internet Service Provider, and this includes GCI) configure their mail servers to recognize only those computer IP addresses that are on an accepted list. If you use multiple ISPs, or just switched from another ISP, you are likely to encounter this problem. The solution is to change setting of the SMTP server for that mail account under your e-mail application:

That was not a question. Remove the offending address from the list and re-send

Most likely the email does not exist or is full.

DID YOU TRY SENDING IT FROM YAHOO OR SOMETHING ALSO? IF NOT, IT COULD BE AN INVALID EMAIL ADDRESS. TRY SENDING IT FROM YAHOO ON THE WEB AND SEE IF IT COMES BACK USER UNKNOWN...THAT SHOULD ANSWER IT.
