I want to host a minecraft server, but whenever I try to set a static ip I get unwanted consequences. So what I want to know is, is there a way to host a public minecraft server with an alternate DNS, or alternate ip address, or something else? I don't want a Virtual Private Network or anything like that that requires people going on to it, especially not hamachi since I learned a few months ago that it was dangerous. I REALLY don't want to pay for it since I don't wanna pay for something that can be gotten for free.

What do you mean "static IP" ? I have never heard of that before. I know it's probably something a guy like me should know, since i myself host a Minecraft server. If you explain it to me a little maybe I can help :)
