Configure a domain. It will be "XXXX.local". You have to install your Windows 2003 Server as a Domain Controller, DHCP Server and install DNS. It works quite well.

Pick a subnet that is different from your router. It will add security. You should also install NAT and configure it. All of the above will be tested on in your certification exams.

Incidently what are the client operating systems. XP Home, 98, ME & 95 can not establish an acount in Active Directory. Use XP Pro. That is what are referenced on the exams.

The other option is to install Internet Connection Sharing for your connections. This is not really tested on the exams. I also set up a second server to run WSUS, this is heavily tested on the exams. The only way to know it is to do it right.

Good Luck.

it really is unlawful to distribute videos without the consent of the copyright holder. also, replacing video can take a lot of time and elements on a pc so basically one consumer can tie up each and every of the processing capacity of your server. some thing like that would draw the interest because of ways a lot electricity it would favor. It basically would not look a possibility to run some thing like that from a dorm room. Edit: I not in any respect reported that you've been allotting videos illegally, both. If the copyright of the movie is expired then those videos don't be conscious, certainly. yet that pc basically isn't as a lot as handling the burden. you'll favor an really sever. An old abode pc basically won't be able to shop up.

Where do I start...Install windows 2003...Install and configure Active directory(can't teach you this, there is a whole book on this)...once active directory has been configure. Make sure the two client and the server is connect to the HUB. Right click on "my computer" on the client machine and click on properties...Click on Computer name tab and click on "network ID" and follow the prompts..you will need the username and password and domain name. In addition you will need the an account with administrative rights to join the client to the domain. Repeat for the second client machine...Sorry...this is a wide topic....i suggest you read all the books first.

if you want to learn networking the best and only place is Linux... why? it is free, you get all the software you will ever need for networking. and programming plus some free tutorials and the best networking user groups

Now the thing to know is the internet is run off Linux not MS so at some point in time your going to have to learn and program in Linux

Companies are moving away from Windows Servers the major reason for this is because Linux is more secure, it is faster, it is free.

for proof of this just go to any computer manufacturing companies website and look for yourself..

Novell.com The biggest name in networking MS and Linux

Dell.com

HP.com

Compaq.com
